Demand for electric power is increasing, and with that there is growing interest in independent power producers (IPP Projects). One of our business enterprises is supporting the supply of fuel for these new IPP power stations. Shinsho Corporation meets our modern society’s demand for raw material resources in a variety of ways. We handle raw materials for steel making including coal, coke, limestone, iron scrap and ferroalloys in blast furnaces. We also supply fuels for IPP power stations. We also work to promote recycling of plastic scrap. Shinsho Corporation is focused on resource development overseas as well. For example, we are involved in an HBI ( hot-briquetted iron ) project in Venezuela, and a coal mining project in Australia, supplying high-quality iron resources to customers worldwide. We supply the resources that keep society moving, and as a leader in this field we keep a constant eye to the future.
Products
- Coal, coke, scrap iron, HBI, pig iron, limestone, petoleum products, ferroalloys, zinc, electrodes, and refractory materials.
- Other products include auxiliary materials, secondary and tertiary products Titanium sponge, chemical products.
- Coke breeze,Pulverized slag, and RPF
Leveraging our expertise in supplying coal for iron and steel production and in supplying auxiliary materials, Shinsho delivers raw materials and auxiliary materials for power generation to the Shinko Kobe Power Station, which began full-scale operation in 2004. We thus provide indirect support for Shinko Kobe Power Station, which supplies up to 70% of Kobe City's power needs.
Steelmaking is the backbone industry of Japan, and it simply could not function without the raw material of coal. Through our strong partnership with Kobe Steel, Shinsho is working to ensure a stable supply of coal for boilers and coke-making.
Shinsho Corporation is engaged in the procurement and supply of the primary raw materials for steelmaking (coke, scrap iron, limestone, etc.). Our primary customers are Kobe Steel and other manufacturers operating electric arc furnaces. Shinsho also supplies materials for alloys and other raw materials for steelmaking.
HBI (hot-briquetted iron) is created using a direct-reduction process. HBI is a new type of iron raw material that exhibits minimal reoxidation and is ideally suited for transport. Shinsho works in partnership with Kobe Steel selling HBI produced by Midrex Technologies in Venezuela, to customers in North America.
A high-efficiency energy source created through recycling.
RPF is a recycled product developed by our Iron & Steel Raw Materials Sector, which works extensively in the energy sector. RPF is made of waste paper, waste plastic, and sawdust that is mixed and formed into hard pellets and used as a solid fuel. It is used as an alternative fuel for boilers, etc. because its calorific value is nearly equal to that of coal, but it costs less. Shinsho Corporation is working to promote sales of RPF to paper and steel manufactures that have their own boilers for power generation. Our aim is the popularization of this new energy source.
